A Vital Conversation is a facilitated conversation among community members about community issues. It's a way for people to connect, build understanding, and build engagement in the community.
Vital Conversations are part of the Vital Signs initiative, helping the Community Foundation of Whistler to paint a picture of community strengths, needs, changes, and concerns.
Knowledge, Connection, Participation
Community conversations are places for community members to:
- enhance understanding of the community
- connect with others of various viewpoints and life experiences
- build consensus around opportunities for shared action
Vital Dialogue with the Whistler Non-Profit Sector
On December 6, 2016 we held a conversation with local non-profit organizations to help grow our understanding of the nonprofit sector in Whistler- the work they are doing, their strengths, their challenges, their needs, and opportunities for collaboration.

Shaping Community Together
On October 24, 2016, following the release of our first Whistler Vital Signs report, we hosted Shaping Community Together: A Whistler Vital Signs Panel Discussion and Community Knowledge Cafe.
We asked attendees to engage in the process of learning about and understanding community strengths and issues and to reflect on what community means and how community members can work together to bring about change.
