Whistler Animals Galore Fund
The Whistler Animals Galore Fund was established in 2004 by the board of directors of WAG who were seeking a sustainable source of funds for Whistler's animal shelter. The fund was initally established with a $1000 donation from Nesters Market, thanks to customers who donated points to WAG. An anonymous donor then stepped forward and contributed the remaining amount needed to establish the fund.
The fund consists of principal that is invested over the long term. The interest earned on the fund each year goes to support WAG. The WAG Fund is invested in our Socially Responsible Investment Fund.
Gifts to the fund are placed into the investment, creating a permanent source of support for WAG, helping them do good work forever. It's a simple way to build income for Whistler's much-loved animal shelter.
The fund is professionally managed and overseen by the Community Foundation of Whistler.
Whistler Animals Galore (WAG) was founded in 1982 when two friends identified the need for animal rescue service in the Sea-to-Sky corridor. WAG has grown into a respected community asset, providing many services and unique programs such as our Matchmaker adoption process, lost and found animal services, volunteer programs, foster programs, animal rehabilitation programs and more.
WAG is a non-profit and registered charity that cares for and re-homes many cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens each year.
