Arts & culture legacy fund
The Arts & Culture Legacy Fund was created in 2005 by the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation and the Whistler Centre for Business and the Arts. The donors wished to form a sustainable source of funding for arts and cultural development in the community.
The fund consists of principal that is invested over the long term. The interest earned on the fund each year goes to support Arts Whistler (The Whistler Arts Council).
Gifts to this fund are placed into the investment, creating a permanent source of support for Arts Whistler, helping them do good work forever. Arts Whistler uses the annual disbursement to fund their Awards and Bursaries Program, which benefits Grade 7 and 12 student art awards and member group grants to community arts groups.
The fund is professionally managed and overseen by the Community Foundation of Whistler.
Donors can leave a bequest to Arts Whistler through the Community Foundation of Whistler, creating a personal legacy that will benefit Arts Whistler for all the years to come.
Arts Whistler is passionate about Whistler, about arts, and about making arts and culture an integral part of day-to-day life. Operating out of the Maury Young Arts Centre in the heart of Whistler Village, Arts Whistler runs a variety of creative classes, showcases an exciting lineup of live shows for the Performance Series, and hosts year-round free-admission exhibits in The Gallery supporting local artists and their craft.
Annual events include the Whistler Children's Festival, Whistler Street Entertainment, Arts Whistler's Holiday Market, ArtWalk, and Art on the Lake. Arts Whistler creates bold, inspiring, and engaging experiences and supports an arts and culture sector in Whistler that's welcoming, accessible, and collaborative.
