Mama Baby Connection Prenatal Program
The transition to motherhood can be a very isolating experience, especially for Whistler residents who may be far away from long term friends, family and traditional support systems.
The Mama Baby Connection Prenatal program at the Whistler Women’s Centre provides an opportunity for first time mothers to come together in a safe, inclusive and nurturing space, to learn and share ideas, connect with self and baby, and honour their bodies through breath, meditation and restorative yoga. Women can share their excitements, joys, anxieties and fears, build connections, and feel a sense of belonging as they step into a new life chapter.
“I’m really grateful the Women’s Centre has a program for moms to be. It gives me support, a safe environment, new connections and makes me feel special as a woman. Allison and Carla are amazing, knowledgeable and make sure we felt good in our bodies and minds. They constantly check on us to see how we feel, what we like to learn about and create a strong connection between other moms. The program taught me how to breathe, be strong, take care of myself and baby, prepare for birth, and I met other pregnant women. Whistler is a special place and the Women’s Centre has a non-replaceable place in the community.” – Participant
The Mama Baby Connection is a low barrier service, offered free of charge and providing an inclusive space for all expectant mothers. The program can be a crucial link for women living in difficult or high conflict relationships and who require further support from the Women’s Centre.
The program had a waiting list and so the Foundation is providing financial support to offer 3 6-week sessions this coming year.
