Howe Sound Women's Centre: Violence is Preventable

With the Violence is Preventable program, counsellors are able to provide violence prevention education and outreach work to ensure that families in our local communities know about and can access services provided by the Howe Sound Women's Centre.

Counsellors have been making presentations to students at Howe Sound Secondary School, Don Ross Secondary School, Whistler Secondary School and Pemberton Secondary School.

This year, with the support of a Community Grant from the Community Foundation of Whistler, the program will focus on grade 8 and grade 10 students.

Approximately 3-5 children in every classroom have been affected by violence in the home or abuse in a dating relationship. The Violence is Preventable program makes it possible for youth to learn about counselling programs if they require further support.
