How to become part of the Legacy Book of Whistler

  • As a participant in the Legacy Book of Whistler, you sign your statement and your promise to make a gift. You do not need to have made your Will at the time that you sign. You are only making a promise to leave a gift during your lifetime or through a bequest.

  • Placing your statement in the Legacy Book of Whistler is a wonderful way to let your family members know of your desire to donate to the Community Foundation of Whistler

  • Bequests may be general donations to the Community Foundations of Whistler that will be used for grants to support the many charitable organizations in the community supported by the Foundation. As an alternative, donors may choose to designate their bequest to be used to support a specific charitable organization, area of interest, or scholarship.

  • Although there is no minimum donation, donors are encouraged to consider establishing an endowment fund in their name, in the name of their family or that of a loved one. The Community Foundation has a minimum amount required to create your own fund.

  • If you decide to create your own fund, the Community Foundation of Whistler works with you to create a Fund Agreement which states how your fund is to be used. When your gift is received, the Foundation can then ensure that the funds are used according to your wishes.

  • Your personal statement in the Legacy Book of Whistler, with a maximum of approximately 500 words, may be your own story, the history of your family, a story about your community, or a meaningful message you wish to leave as a legacy.

  • If would like assistance in writing your statement, the Community Foundation of Whistler can arrange for the support of local writers.

  • While your page in the printed book will include one photograph, our online Legacy Book of Whistler can include a photo gallery should you wish to submit historical or family photos.
