Pemberton and Area Community Endowment Fund
The Pemberton and Area Community Endowment Fund spawned from the dream of long-time resident Gladys Phare. In 1995, while fundraising for a local hockey arena and several other local charities and projects, she saw a need to establish a formal organization that will allow philanthropic individuals to provide their community of Pemberton and area with opportunities equal to other communities.
The fund serves as a vehicle for generous citizens and corporations to build a lasting legacy that will forever be enjoyed by the people choosing to call Pemberton their home.
Donations are prudently managed by the Community Foundation of Whistler and the earning are used to make creative grants to local charities.
The fund supports the Pemberton and Area Community Grants program which is overseen by the Pemberton and Area Community Endowment Fund Advisory Committee. The committee members are appointed annually with a representative from the Pemberton Lions Club, Rotary Club of Pemberton, Pemberton & District Chamber of Commerce, a representative from each of the three founding businesses (Pemberton Valley Supermarket, Pemberton Valley Hardware, and Frontier Pharmacy) and an appointee from the Community Foundation of Whistler.
